Bot 2.0 Replacing MSNBot 1.1 For Better Crawling

Microsoft will be saying good-bye to MSNBot1.1 that will be replaced by the next bot: 2.0B. The team has said that new development will enable Bing to gather better information from a bigger number of websites that Microsoft indexes across the globe.

Yahoo Launches “Yahoo My Display Ads” For Ad Marketplace

A couple of days ago, Yahoo has launched “Yahoo My Display Ads”, a self-serve display ad marketplace for ads on Yahoo sites and partner sites.

AdReady, a Seattle-based technology provider powers the ad customization part of the program. Further, Yahoo’s Right Media exchange manages the ad inventory for Yahoo and other partner network sites.

AdSense New Feature Allows Changing Font Size of Ad Text

After introducing an AdSense feature that lets users to change the font faces of ad units, Google has rolled out an another feature related to the aforementioned feature only. The newly launched feature allows users to change the font size of the text in AdSense ad units. Users are given three options to choose from – small, medium and large.

The Inside AdSense blog puts forward a few important things to be remembered when changing the font size of AdSense ad units. They are:

  • Ad titles will be scaled.
  • Font size can be applied to the body of the ad.

Translation Is An Instant Answer On Bing

Microsoft’s new search engine Bing adds Instant Answers, known as one of the great things about Live Search through which users can get instant answers on shopping, travel and sports. Now, translation is an instant answer on Bing. The search engine has come up with the translation Instant Answers.

If a user wants to get a word or a phrase translated to another language, he/she just needs to type in the word or phrase on the page followed by the language. For example, if you type “have a nice day” and want to get it translated into Portuguese, Bing would returned like the below:

Microsoft Makes It Easier To Filter Out Explicit Images In Bing

Recently Microsoft has rolled out two new methods in order to ensure a safe image and video searching experience when using Bing.

The first step taken by Microsoft is that all adult related images and videos will now come from a separate single domain, explicit.bing.net. If the content is served from a different domain, it will allow schools and homes in setting up their own safe filters to block specific images and videos from that domain.

Microsoft’s Bing Ad “Fast Forward” Launched On The Daily Show

There have been reports that Microsoft is spending a lot in advertising to promote its newly unveiled search engine- Bing. The search giant’s ad campaign for Bing took another turn when Microsoft launched a week-long ad campaign for the search engine on The Daily Show. With the new campaign called “Fast Forward” it seems Microsoft is paying for several minutes of commercial time, only to air the 30-second “Fast Forward” in place of several other ads.

The ad which is yet to make available publicly, begins with a Snuggie commercial, but after a few seconds the video, along with audio fast forwards through the Snuggie spot and other commercials. Then audio goes silent and it shows Bing’s message on two slides: “Getting You What You Want Faster / It’s What We’re All About.”

The information could be anything related to sites of the webmasters, details about potential issues with Google’s Webmaster Guidelines, or any confirmations of actions taken within Webmaster Tools Center and so.

Google Launches Translator Toolkit For Easier and Faster Translations

A couple of days ago, Google has launched the Google Translator Toolkit, a set of tools. Unlike Google Translate (which is machine-based,) this set of tools including translation search, bilingual dictionaries and ratings enables users to edit or improve upon the machine-translated output.

For instance, if you are an Arabic-speaking reader and you want to translate a Wikipedia article into Arabic, you just need to load the article into the Translator Toolkit, correct the automatic translation and click the publish button. By using the Toolkit, you can translate and publish the article faster and better into Arabic or any other language that you want.

Google Introduces Page Speed To Improve Web Pages Performance!

Recently, Google introduced Page Speed, a Firefox Add-on that comes with Firebug integration in its web community. Page Speed is a tool that helps improve and enhance the performance of web pages, without any external change.

The tool is a great deal of help for webmasters and developers to evaluate the performance of their web pages. Webmasters get a set of scores for each page and suggestions on how to improve its speed and performance when they run Page Speed on their pages. Page Speed performs several tests on a site’s web server configuration and front-end code.
