Recently, Yahoo! announced that its data retention policy from 13 months has been reduced to just 3 months. Now, people are eager to know what would be the reaction of Google to this news.

As far as the users’ experience with Yahoo! is concerned, they are not going to notice any difference, regarding its products or services, or any other facility. Moreover, advertising procedure on Yahoo! will remain the same as the earlier.

“In our world of customized online services, responsible use of data is critical to establishing and maintaining user trust,” said Anne Toth, Yahoo’s vice president of policy. “We know that our users expect relevant and compelling content and advertising when they visit Yahoo, but they also want assurances that we are focused on protecting their privacy.”

News is that Yahoo! Buzz is getting some new features! Now, Yahoo Buzz Publisher has new landing pages. These pages can be used to display submitted content along with related activity for their “Buzzed up” contents.
The landing pages will have publisher-specific Yahoo! Updates modules and RSS/Add-to-My Yahoo! Buzz feeds.

Google’s Webmaster Tools recently went live in 14 languages, bringing the total count to 40 languages

According to Google “Our team is very excited to reach so many of you by offering our tools in 40 languages. At the same time, both the Google Localization and Webmaster Tools teams know that there’s more room for improvements in the features and quality of our service. We hope to hear your input in the comments below, especially on the linguistic quality of our new languages.”

As per the reports of Google Blogoscoped, Google is experimenting on a different search links design.

This is one of the Google’s most recent experiments that the search giant is indulging in, thanks to Zim, who has spotted this very change!

Google is all trying to ensure that their billions in advertising revenue don’t get effected, even in the prevailing economic crisis. In response to this, the search giant came up with a new strategy, ‘Place sponsored listings everywhere.’

Last month reports came out that Google is adding sponsored listings to its finance site!. But lately, news came that Google is testing the placement of AdWords ads in its “Search Suggest.”

Of late, Google is getting indulged in certain kinds of changes and testing some new features. However, not all of the changes have been appreciated!

According to Danny Sullivan, three of those changes are already being tested live by Google. This came into light a few weeks after other major changes were made by the search engine. Following are the three changes:

Enhanced Listings

These are the listings which contain price ranges besides different ratings of various kinds of products and services from all those ventures that boast this type of information on the website.
Till now, only Yelp, Citysearch, CNET, TripAdvisor and Download.com are being involved in this testing phase. It is expected that once the features will get implemented, it will be available to any site that contains reviews and price ranges with in content.

As we all know that Google AdSense for Domains helps finance people who park domains. However, this service is being connected to useless links and spam of the web many a time!

Google says, “AdSense for domains allows publishers with undeveloped domains to help users by providing relevant information including ads, links and search results. AdSense for domains provides advertisers with additional opportunities to find their customers, and ads on these pages convert well. In addition, we regularly receive requests from advertisers who have found domains to be an effective way to reach their users.”

A couple of months ago, the news came that Google was all set to allow AdWords advertisers to bid on beer and champagne. It was like Google’s response to the economic crisis that everyone is facing.

Now, here is an update to Google’s AdWords alcohol policy. Google has revised this policy and an important disclaimer has been witnessed in this update, that is “ads cannot be used for direct sales, they must only be used for branding purposes!”

According to Google, “This fall, we changed our policy around beer, for the first time allowing advertisements of its sale in the U.S. via AdWords. And starting today, in response to advertiser feedback we’ve received over the years, we’ll permit the advertisement of hard alcohol and liqueurs that target the U.S.

Gmail has come up with another new feature, after the introduction of Gmail Tasks. The new feature will enable Gmail account holders to send SMS text messages via Gmail chat.

As of now, the feature is available for the U.S users only. However, if you have a U.S. phone number, even though you don’t live in the U.S., you can use this feature.
