Google Adds Multiple Inboxes In Gmail
Gmail users had been facing a lot of problems in regard of viewing multiple panes in different browser windows to read their messages. But, recently Google has added a new feature to Gmail Labs, which allows all Gmail users label their messages and have saved searches at the same time! The feature is called “Multiple Inboxes.â€
Octavian “Vivi” Costache, Google software engineer explained why he used his “20 percent time” for the development of this new feature:
“I’m seriously into filters and labels. All the email I get related to Flash goes under my “flash” label, everything about paragliding goes under “flying,” and they all skip my inbox because that’s how I like to stay organized. But when new email arrives I have to switch to the “flash” label first, then click on “paragliding,” etc. I wanted a way to see it all at once.â€

Here is how to enable this feature:
- Activate Gmail Labs for your account.
- Enable “Multiple Inboxes†from the list of Labs options.
- In order to set the panes, go to the Gmail Settings menu and select “Multiple Inboxes.â€
- Now, you can create up to five different panes.
- However, you have to manually enter the Gmail ‘code’ of each label.
