Keyword Mining-The Darker Side of SEO!
Noel of Search Engine Herald has put up a post about a topic, that is sort of a taboo in the world of SEO (Search Engine Optimization). This topic is called ‘Keyword Mining’. Now, every website has it very own web statistics, that enable the Webmasters to understand operational critical factors about their websites such as, the number of visitors, visiting frequency and other details as well.
All Webmasters have an option of keeping their web statistics private and thus inaccessible to the public in general. However, most of the Webmasters do not bother to use the privacy option and in many cases, some of the Webmasters have been absolutely ignorant about the existence of such an option in their analytical tools. At present, Google is the King of Search and practically indexes every page on the Internet. Many a times, with the pages that are being indexed, these website statistics also get indexed by Google and are displayed in the search results for the whole world to see.
This sort of indexing is one of the easiest ways for third party users or websites to mine keyword data from the statistics. This process is considered to be one of the safest ways for keyword research as it is entirely legal, because the keywords are displayed in the public search results of Google. All you need to do is to type, inurl:awstats.pl intitle: “Statistics of†in the Google search box. This will show a list of websites that have been indexed by Google to be viewed by general public. With Awstats, not only will you be able to view the day to day website traffic, but would also be able to view the extremely important, ‘keyword statistics’.
Noel did a similar example, by taking the keyword “condominium.†Then he put in “inurl:awstats.pl intitle: “Statistics of†condominium in the Google search box. Below are the images of the results that he got from his search.

The second image clearly depicts that, these were the keywords that users had used to find the specific website. This is one unique trick for keyword research!
