Google has enhanced its site map feed program to include website statistics.

Google Index Stats
More website data is a good thing. The more you know about your website the better off you will be in your Internet Marketing and Search engine optimization campaigns. Google sitemap feed statistics give you samples of your pages in Google’s index or search engine results pages (SERPs). Examples of some of the stats available are:

• Search engine pages indexed by Google for your website
• Pages that refer to your website's URL
• Pages that link to your site
• The current cache of your site
• Information that Google has about your web site
• Pages that are similar to your website

Business Keyword / Search Term Query Statistics
The query stats provide information about business keyword search term queries that return pages from your website. These stats tell you what pages are being shown in the Google search engine result pages and which pages are actually relevant to the searcher generating a click and leading to a visit from the SERPs. Stats that may be available are:

• Top business keyword search term queries - list the top five queries that return results from your site. Note that this list is unrelated to where your site is listed in the search results.
• Top business keyword search term query clicks - the top five search term queries that have directed traffic to your site. These are the top searches that caused users to click on a link to your site.

Google Sitemap Feed Errors
When your Google Sitemap Feed is submitted to Google the feed has to wait for verification. This Site map verification process helps tell Google that you are the rightful owner of the website submitting the feed. Once Google has processed the XML Site map, if done properly it will give you a status of ok. You will be notified if you have any errors. If an error is produced, you must resolve the errors and resubmit your Google Sitemap Feed. It can take up to a day for Google to process the resubmitted Sitemap Feed, so the error status may continue to display until then.
